Campos native Rodrigo Rangel wins the João Batista Rocha Award

Winning photo was selected among 1,300+ posted on Instagram with the hashtag #premiojbatistarocha

The winner of the João Batista Rocha Award in the cultural contest promoted by the Port of Açu was announced last Saturday. Campos native Rodrigo Nunes Rangel was the author of the best picture among 1,306 submitted to the contest, whose theme was the city of São João da Barra. The mission proposed to local amateur photographers was to take the city as the main character in their images for the competition. All photographs published on Instagram with the hashtag #premiojbatistarocha were submitted to a Judging Commission that selected the top 10. The criteria were originality, creativity and suitability to the proposed theme.

These are the names of the people selected in the contest: Bruna Peixoto Gomes, Danilo Coutinho, Joel de Sá Rosa, Lívia de Siqueira Manhães, Matheus Drumond Costa Junior, Rafaela França da Silva, Raphael Fonseca de Souza, Rodrigo Nunes Rangel, Victor de Aquino Vianna Fernandes, and Victor Hugo Rangel Duarte. All of them received certificates in a ceremony held in the Narcisa Amália Cultural Center, where an exhibit with the chosen photos was launched and will remain open until July 15.

“We were very pleased to promote a contest that values our municipality, which has so many scenarios that should be registered. It was even more gratifying to see the participation of people who admire São João da Barra and were so thoughtful in their vision of the city. The contest encouraged in each one of us the pride in what is ours,” said Gleide Gomes, Social Responsibility coordinator of the Port of Açu.

“Being the winner was a very good surprise for me. I am grateful to the Port of Açu for the initiative of promoting a contest that encourages us, amateur photographers, to pursue our dreams. Thank you so much,” said Rodrigo.
