The training course is part of a Prumo-run Professional Training Program designed to provide local workers with the skills needed for the job market.
During the course, students were trained on general load handling skills for ship loading and unloading, cargo storage, stockpiling, health and safety in port operations, environmental protection, as well as the fundamentals of port regulations, logistics and other subjects.
“Placing residents from São João da Barra in the job market is one of the pillars of our project. Our Training Program, in addition to those provided by companies already operating within the port, expands opportunities for local residents,” said Prumo Human Resources manager, Beatriz Taranto.
In total, the Port Operator course was offered to 120 students and provided 120 hours of training. In May, a new class of candidates who passed the entrance exam in April will begin training.
The ceremony for the 76 Port Operator course graduates will take place at 6 pm at the theater in São João da Barra.
