More than 400,000 saplings have been planted at RPPN Fazenda Caruara

Prumo has now planted more than 400,000 restinga saplings in the Fazenda Caruara Private Natural Heritage Reserve (RPPN), installed in the surroundings of Açu Port, in São João da Barra (RJ).

All the saplings were produced at the nursery installed in the venture, which has now produced nearly 700,000 saplings.

Installed at the Port since 2012, this is the largest restinga nursery of Latin America, with a capacity to produce 500,000 saplings per year. The nursery currently produces and manages 65 species of restinga including endangered species (according to the official list of IBAMA), such as jacquinia brasiliensis, Almescla (Protium heptaphyllum) and quixaba (sideroxylon obtusifolium).

The initiative is part of Prumo’s Biodiversity Conservation Program, which carries out vegetation restoration and species enrichment projects.
