Port of Antwerp International (PAI) is a subsidiary of the Antwerp Port Authority, created to take part and invest in ports abroad and port-related projects in strategic regions such as Brazil.
PAI chose the Port of Açu for its strategic location near oil and gas fields and proximity to Minas Gerais state, the gateway to Brazil. Additionally, the Açu enterprise is an example of a successful private port already at work, developed by a trusted partner focused on sustainability.
Brazil, the largest economy in Latin America and the 7th largest in the world, is a key trading partner for the Port of Antwerp. More than 6.4 million tons in cargo are shipped annually between the largest country in Latin America and the Port of Antwerp. The partnership with the Port of Açu reinforces the Port of Antwerp’s strong long-term commitment to the Brazilian market.
