Porto do Açu assina Pacto pela Sustentabilidade

This week in São Paulo, the Port of Açu joined the Pact for Sustainability launched by the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor). The pact is part of MPor’s new Sustainability Policy, which aims to promote sustainability in the sector, contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the implementation of social and environmental programs and alignment with the global goals of the 2030 Agenda.

The event was attended by the minister, Silvio Costa Filho, who highlighted the positive impacts of the agenda for the port sector and emphasized the commitment to the sustainability agenda, stressing that projects aligned with this agenda should be prioritized.

For Vinicius Patel, Port Administration Director at the Port of Açu, joining the Pact reaffirms the Port’s commitment to sustainability: “We believe that cooperation between the government, ports and other strategic partners is essential for our sector to be a vector for sustainable development, increasing competitiveness, creating opportunities and bringing social development.”

The largest port-industry in Brazil, the Port of Açu has positioned itself as a major player on the ESG agenda in the Brazilian sector. “Our ambition is to be a vector of social transformation and positive impact, while consolidating Açu as the port of the energy transition. Through the Pact, we show how our commitments and actions contribute to strengthening the Brazilian port sector,” said Vinicius Patel.
